Fans of The Santa Clause franchise are in for a treat this holiday season. Scott Calvin is back! Nearing his 30th year as Old Saint Nick, he’s still in the holiday spirit, but as Christmas declines in popularity throughout the world, so does his Santa magic. Santa struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, as well as being there for his family. Upon learning that he’s able to retire, Scott considers stepping down and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband.

The Disney+ series begins streaming on Nov. 16. Fans will meet new characters, including Grace (Rupali Redd), Betty (Matilda Lawler) and Noel (Devin Bright). Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell reprise their roles as Mr. and Mrs. Clause. Redd, Lawler, Bright, Austin Kane (who plays Cal) and Mitchell spoke to us about continuing the iconic story.

The three youngsters of the bunch were all admitted fans of at least one of the films before filming started. For Bright, being able to be part of the legacy now of the franchise was a dream come true.

“Before I got this part, I watch all three [movies]. They were really good. So I feel like we’re probably start to watch them as a family every year as well,” he said.

But the best part of the film was working alonsgide icons like Mitchell and Allen. There were non-stop laughs on the set, but he also took along great lessons.

“They’re always having fun, they’re always making jokes off-camera. But then also, they are figuring out how they make that switch as soon as they hit [the set] and the camera starts,” he said. “I can be having fun, but then immediately go into my role and become Noelle. And it was really fun for me to learn that.”

For Mitchell, being able to continue the story was something she didn’t think would come to fruition. It’s a passion project of hers. And the magic of Christmas is always what she wants to continue to focus on.

“It was a no-brainer. I never thought it would happen, to be honest with you,” she admitted. “I said yes in a heartbeat. I was thrilled to do it….you think about your favorite holiday moments. And for me, it’s family together, laughing, putting aside whatever was, and coming into kind of a little bit of love and joy and a soul and heart. It’s what Tim set out to do.”
