Whoopi Goldberg has nabbed a big, key role in the upcoming Stephen King series at CBS All Access.

While it has been rumored for some time, it has been officially announced that she’ll star in the streaming network’s The Stand. James Marsden and Amber Heard also star in the series, which has added Jovan Adepo and Daniel Sunjata alongside Goldberg.

The streamer said in a prior statement: “Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel of the same name, and Stephen King will write the last chapter of the series, providing a new coda that won’t be found in the book.”

The official description: The Stand is Stephen King’s apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old other Mother Abagail (Goldberg) and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.

The series is produced by CBS Television Studios. Josh Boone and Ben Cavell write and executive produce, and Boone also directs. Roy Lee, Jimmy Miller and Richard P. Rubinstein will also serve as executive producers with Will Weiske and Miri Yoon as co-executive producers. Knate Lee, Jill Killington and Owen King will serve as producers.
