Noma Dumezweni, fresh off of her critically-acclaimed turn opposite Nicole Kidman in HBO’s The Undoing, has joined Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid film.

There’s no word on who her character will be, but according to Deadline, she will play a new character that wasn’t in the original animated flick.

The cast includes Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric,  Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton and Daveed Diggs as Sebastian.

Production on the film had restarted in London recently after it was suspended due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The original 1989 film, based on the fairytale, is considered one of the most iconic animated films of all-time. It follows a mermaid princess who dreams of becoming human after she falls in love with a human prince.

The film will be produced by Rob Marshall as well as John DeLuca, Marc Platt and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film will go into production in early 2020.
