The Upshaws is promising a lot more family fun and family drama in the first part of the second season. To prepare, Netflix has released a recap of the first season to catch fans up.

The second season is simply described as one that will see the family back to their hilarious antics. “Bennie, Regina and Lucretia are back to their usual antics. But will new problems and trust issues keep them from holding the family together?”

Netflix has also put out more detail about the upcoming first part of the new season.

Bennie Upshaw (Mike Epps), the head of a Black working class family in Indianapolis, is a charming, well-intentioned mechanic and lifelong mess just trying his best to step up and care for his family — wife Regina (Kim Fields), their two young daughters (Khali Spraggins, Journey Christine) and firstborn son (Jermelle Simon), the teenage son (Diamond Lyons) he fathered with another woman (Gabrielle Dennis) — and tolerate his sardonic sister-in-law (Wanda Sykes), all without a blueprint for success. But the Upshaws are determined to make it work, and make it to the next level, together. In season 2 part 1, the Upshaws continue to ride life’s ups and downs, including new loves, old flames, big dreams, life changes and the love and drama that comes with family.

The last part is what’s particularly teased at the end of the trailer, when a new family member enters the mix, potentially upending everything the Upshaws have worked to regain after Bernie’s (Mike Epps) prior infidelity in his marriage with Regina (Kim Fields). Lucretia (Wanda Sykes) will, of course, be there to chastise Bernie for his various mistakes and shortcomings.

The series is created by Regina Y. Hicks and Wanda Sykes. Both serve as executive producers alongside Epps, Page Hurwitz and Niles Kirchner. The series also stars Diamond Lyons, Page Kennedy, Khali Daniya-Renee Spraggins, Jermelle Simon, Gabrielle Dennis and Journey Chrstine.

The second season of The Upshaws comes to Netflix June 29.
