Whoopi Goldberg has been absent from The View due to filming Anansi Boys, but fans of the show are upset they can’t see one of their favorite hosts, especially since the show has aired its second repeat in a row, leading fans to revolt against the unexpected hiatus.
“Disappointing that #theview is a repeat again today!” a viewer wrote on Twitter, according to House Beautiful.
Another wrote, "I'm tired of the repeats. This type of show shouldn't have repeats at all. They have 4 regular hosts & that new shows should air everyday. The vacation days should alternate. There isn't any reason for all 4 of them to be off at the same time."

Others felt like the series should have backup plans for when members of the cast go on vacation,
One wrote, “How many weeks per year does The View run repeats/encore presentations? Time to have a backup panel to replace the vacationing regular panel.”

'The View' returned from its hiatus Monday, but even though Goldberg has left for a short time to film in Scotland, ABC and 'The View' cast haven't talked about why this hiatus occurred.
Meanwhile, Goldberg’s role in Anansi Boys, Bird Woman, one of the gods who are part of the World Before Time. Her character is described as “the embodiment of birds” and “the most dangerous [bird] of them all.” She has a score to settle against Anansi (Delroy Lindo), and her arc will be about her getting him back.
In a prior statement, Goldberg said:
“I have been a fan of this book for a very long time and when Neil Gaiman told me it was being brought to the screen, I did everything I could to be part of it to help make people aware of Anansi and all his magic.”
Neil Gaiman also said in a statement how he'd always envisioned Goldberg as his bird goddess character.
“When I first conceived Anansi Boys, decades ago, I imagined Whoopi Goldberg as Bird Woman. I wasn’t able to meet her until 2018, when she interviewed me with some of the Good Omens team at New York Comic Con,” he said in a statement. “At which point she mentioned that she had just finished listening to Sir Lenny Henry’s reading of Anansi Boys, and that it was one of her favourite books. Sometimes things feel planned and inevitable, and we are incredibly lucky. She’s going to be scary.”
