Looks like the fans who read the tea leaves in Whoopi Goldberg’s statements to Alyssa Farrah Griffin were right.

Variety reports that Griffin, who worked within the Trump administration before becoming an anti-Trumper (but still works as a conservative pundit), is in the final talks to become the permanent conservative voice on The View. She replaces Meghan McCain, who left the series in 2021.

Sources tell 'Variety' that the deal isn't closed yet, but that the announcement should come within the coming weeks.

However, The View‘s spokesperson told Variety, “We do not have a co-host announcement to make at this time. Stay tuned.”

Fans said they would boycott if Griffin was hired to replace McCain. MEAWW reported last week that some fans caught on to something Goldberg said regarding Griffin’s feelings about people coming for her and other former Trumpers in the real world. Goldberg told her, “You know what? We’ve got your back.” This led viewers to believe that Griffin was chosen to replace McCain.

While one viewer said she would quit watching the show if Griffin was hired, others implored the producers to realize that fans are happy not to have McCain or other potentially toxic opinions on their TV screens.

According to one viewer, “Do the producers not see how excited we all were when Meghan left?!! I have not missed her for one second!”

The View also might lose some guests, since Wanda Sykes turned down an appearance on the series because she reportedly didn’t want to help advance a former Trump administration member’s career post-Trump.
