Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t want anyone to try to find any sense in replacement theory, the racist theory that fueled a violent hate crime in Buffalo, NY, which left 10 people killed and three injured.
The View panel tried discussing the theory on Wednesday, much like how they did throughout the week, but Goldberg quickly grew tired of the conversation, according to Decider.
"If you can send me proof that you have been replaced, or 10 people you know have been replaced by me, or any of the Black and Brown or the Jewish people that you know, who have actively been replaced, you have to explain where they went, okay? Because when you replace something you have to put something else [in its place]," she said.
Sunny Hostin brought up the fact that the country’s demographics are rapidly changing, with the amount of people who describe themselves as “white” officially decreasing for the first time in the census’ history.
Many feared that the census results--and the ensuing hyper fixation on the demographic results in the media--would ratchet up fanatics who already believe in replacement theory.
Some even believe that the theory is partially why the conservative majority of the Supreme Court want to politicize abortion, specifically when Supreme Court Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Samuel Alito wrote in their draft opinion that America needs a “domestic supply of infants” for adoption. In reality, most Americans view the changing demographics from a neutral position.
But, in response to Hostin's discussion about demographics, Goldberg said, "that's not replacement."
“That’s called, you lost an election. Do better next time,” Goldberg continued.
“My question is,” Hostin continued, “when white people are saying that they’re afraid of being replaced, let’s say it’s true, let’s just say it’s true–”
"But it's not. Don't say it's true," Goldberg interjected. Hostin continued her hypothetical question of asking what white people who believe in the theory are afraid of, but Goldberg eventually shut down the conversation, saying, "Nobody is replacing anybody…none of it makes any sense. You're trying to make sense out of something that makes no sense!"
She gave a stern warning to the white viewers who are worried about the future of white America.
“Get over it! You’re not being replaced,” she said. “You have to stick to this country just like the rest of us and we gotta fix it.”
