Daytime Emmy-winning The Young and the Restless actress Christel Khalil is heading into the world of rom-coms with Big Time Rush‘s James Maslow. The Young and the Restless star can now be seen headlining the new romantic comedy We Need To Talk.
“We Need To Talk centers on Great Scott, a self-absorbed online video-game influencer and star who speaks to millions of fans every day but cannot bring himself to communicate with the people he loves,” the official description for the film reads. “Blissfully unaware, Scott’s lifestyle isn’t a problem for him until one morning when his girlfriend Aly tells him, “We need to talk,” when she gets back from work. Aly’s comment sends Scott spiraling into a day-long tailspin as he seeks wisdom, advice, and emotional support from his social network – which in Scott’s case includes friends, internet trolls, and a myriad of online characters from around the world.”
Khalil will portray the role of Aly. The actress, of course, is known for her portrayal of Lily Winters on The Young and the Restless. For her role, Khalil won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress In A Drama Series in 2012 and has been nominated five other times.
“The wisdom of the (script) was really amazing… it shows how we get caught up in our lives, in our jobs, we forget about the people close to us,” she said, as reported by Soap Opera Network. “It’s important to recognize those people. I think it is a really good lesson, for myself included. Where social media is concerned, and ‘likes’ – ‘It’s all about balance. We need balance in life.’”
Aside from Khalil, 'We Need To Talk' also features 'Gossip Girl' star Johnathan Fernandez, Tray Chaney and Emily Brett Rickards.
We Need To Talk is now available to rent or buy on all major digital platforms including Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play, YouTube and Microsoft Movies & TV, among other platforms. The film will also soon be available to watch on Tubi, the free ad-supported streaming service owned by FOX Entertainment.
