Tiffany Haddish is entering the arena of science fiction!

The Emmy winning comedian and actress is in the final round of negotiations to star in an adaptation of M.T. Anderson’s award-winning novel Landscape with Invisible Hand for MGM and Brad Pitt’s Plan B. Known by many for her comedy fare, the role would mark Haddish’s first major role in a sci-fi film.

Set in the near future, Landscape with Invisible Hand depicts Earth’s takeover by an alien species known as the Vuuv. After the Vuuv’s advanced technology leads to the collapse of Earth’s job market and global economy, a teenager and his girlfriend come up with a harebrained scheme to broadcast their romantic life to aliens. However, their scheme turns on its head when teenage love slowly turns to hate.

The adaptation of  Landscape with Invisible Hand will be written and directed by Cory Finley, who recently directed Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney in HBO’s critically-acclaimed Sundance hit, Bad Education.
