In July, Furtado opened up to Vogue about her return to music and working with Timbaland again.

“We have plans, for sure. I actually talked to Timbaland recently, and we had this amazing two-hour FaceTime call,” Furtad told the outlet. “We were talking about when we made Loose, and getting into all these stories.”

She also took to TikTok to get fans excited about new music, Entertainment Tonight said. She shared a video of her using the podium filter while speaking Spanish.

“POV when you have new music coming,” the in-clip caption reads.

Timbaland talked about reuniting with Timberlake in the studio earlier this year, telling Variety the two were working on a new album.

“It’s fun Justin — it’s like “FutureSex/LoveSounds” but nothing too heavy, just giving you what you’d expect from us: not overthought, the lyrics are not so deep, it’s bob-your-head, dance-to-it music,” he described to Variety. “Music is a young sport, and you have to keep it fun — fun and young. We’ve both seen a lot of life, but you can’t overthink it because of that, you have to bring out the 13-year-old, 18-year-old again, you know? If not, you can get into the old-fogey stage real quick. That’s just the world we live in.”

Timberlake has also been dropping hints recently that new music was en route. Fans were speculating whether he’d reunite with *NSYNC bandmates JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick. Some thought the ’90s boy band might be working on a tour.

“JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick are expected to have surprise roles in the third Trolls film, Trolls Band Together, with Justin Timberlake,” a source told Entertainment Tonight, clearing up the rumors.

Timberlake, Timbaland and Furtado’s new single will be their first collaboration in 16 years.
