TODAY‘s Al Roker and his wife, ABC News’s Deborah Roberts, are proud parents thanks to their son Nicholas getting accepted into college.

Roberts talked about their happiness on Thursday’s episode of The View, explaining how the accomplishment comes amid, as Roberts described, their “journey with our son Nick, who over his lifetime has been dealing with learning disabilities [and] developmental disabilities.”

“He has accomplished so many things,” said Roberts, who tearfully talked about Nicholas (who has autism) to The View co-hosts. “He has gotten a black belt in Taekwondo. He swam competitively. He tried to train for the marathon, although he changed his mind.”

She also said she did get her son's permission to discuss "his private business," but added, "he is so excited and we are too."

Roker posted about his son’s news on Instagram by posting a video of his son telling his parents he got accepted as they stood off-camera. Roker wrote in the caption, “So very proud of my @collegebound young man.” He also tagged his son in the caption adding the hashtag #congratulations.
