Dalmacy Films announced today that Todd Bridges will star in Nick Dalmacy’s The Filmmaker, playing a working class, married, father of two with dreams of a career as a filmmaker.

Synopsis reads:

In the film, Bridges’ Donnie is a top sales performer in his position as a door-to-door cable salesman. His subtle, yet real, determination to become a successful filmmaker drives his motivation to pursue his dream by any and all means necessary. After a series of defeats and unimaginable challenges, Donnie sets his sights high on seeing the project through to completion at the risk of losing it all, including his life.

The film is inspired by writer/director Dalmacy’s own real life experiences.

Dalmacy’s credits include Scorn, the story of 3 couples dealing with the trials and tribulations of relationships. The film won several awards at the New Bern Film Festival (“Best Drama,” “Best Film,” “Audience Award” and “Best Actress”) and was nominated for “Best Film” at the 2011 San Diego Black Film Festival.

John Michael Reefer (Slated.comKinyarwandaThe Bicycle) will serve as producer on the film.

The Filmmaker is slated to go into production Spring 2014 and will shoot on location in North Carolina.
