Top Gun: Maverick, the highly anticipated and delayed sequel to one of the quintessential films of the ’80s, has just released its second full trailer as it prepares to finally come to theaters this coming May.

The film was originally supposed to be released in summer 2019 but was delayed to summer 2020, and due to the pandemic was delayed a few more times, but now it’s set to finally hit theaters.

The sequel will bring together Tom Cruise with a new generation of fighter pilots including Miles Teller, bridging the gap between the two movies.

When he finds himself training a detachment of TOPGUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”

Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Charles Parnell, Bashir Salahuddin, Monica Barbaro, Jay Ellis, Danny Ramirez, Greg Tarzan Davis with Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer.

The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Tom Cruise, Christopher McQuarrie, David Ellison.
