Will Bumblebee give breathe much-needed life into the Transformers franchise?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr. has been cast as the lead male in the film. It was announced about a month ago that Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfield was in talks for the female lead.

If you’re not familiar with the Transformers franchise, Bumblebee is a yellow and black striped autobot. While not too many details are known at this time, THR, who reported the casting of Lendeborg, says it will be a prequel to the main Transformers films, and Stenfield will “play a tomboy who also holds a job as a mechanic after school.”

It’s currently set for a June 2018 release.

Lendeborg appears as a classmate of Peter Parker in the recently-released fan and critic favorite, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and he starred in the 2016 indie film, The Land. He’ll also star in Fox 2000’s coming-of-age and coming-out storySimon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.
