Musician and rapper Travis Scott has jumped into the film production business with A24.

Variety reports that Scott’s production company Cactus Jack Films has signed a production deal with the popular alternative film and television company. Films produced by Cactus Jack will be in partnership with A24. It would seem that the partnership might start with a project entitled Utopia, thanks to Cactus Jack tweeting an image of Utopia‘s script with A24’s logo emblazoned on the front.

Whatever the first project will be, it’s been described by Variety’s sources as a “special project” that will tie into Scott’s next album.

Scott’s deal with A24 advances his artistic development beyond simply being known as a rapper. The Twitter post leads people to assume that Scott could be into screenwriting, and, after a look at his IMDb page, Scott has director credit for eight of his music videos. If Scott is dabbling in writing and directing, working with a film production company could see Scott expanding his creative output behind the scenes.

A24’s currently promoting its latest film, The Green Knight starring Dev Patel, in theaters now. Shadow And Act’s Trey Mangum spoke to Patel about the film and how it adds to Patel’s recent roles in inclusively-cast period films.

“I just really commend the filmmakers to give me the opportunity to be a part of this, in a way,” he said of The Green Knight‘s David Lowery and David Copperfield‘s Armando Ianucci. “…[T]o be able to have a substantial role in the affairs is really beautiful.”
