HBO has officially announced that more True Detective is on the way.

True Detective: Night Country has been given a series order and hails from showrunner/writer/director/executive producer Issa López and star Jodie Foster, who will also executive produce. Kali Reis will also star in the next iteration of HBO‘s acclaimed series, and this season will be filmed in Iceland.

Here's the official description of the series starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis:

When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.

López  and Jodie Foster will executive produce, alongside Barry Jenkins Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak, who are executive producing through PASTEL.

Alan Page Arriaga is an executive producer and writer.  Anonymous Content, Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Cary Joji Fukunaga, and Nic Pizzolatto are also executive producers.

The critically acclaimed first season of 'True Detective' aired in 2014  and starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

That season was set in Louisiana and followed the investigation of occult murderers that were connected to a large web of conspiracy that  McConaughey and Harrelson’s detectives dealt with over three decades. Season 2 starred Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams.

The most recent season aired in 2019 and starred Oscar winner Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff.
