"Sanford & Son" "Sanford & Son"

"Sanford & Son," the classic ‘70s sitcom starring legendary comedian Redd Foxx and Demond Wilson, will take over TV One with a three-day marathon beginning tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. ET. Celebrating the series’ 45th anniversary, the network is airing back-to-back episodes in sequential order all-weekend long through Sunday, Jan. 16 at 12 a.m. ET.

To commemorate the series’ launch TV One will re-air the pilot episode on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. ET – the same date and time Sanford & Son first aired on NBC in 1972.

“Even after 45 years, 'Sanford & Son' remains relevant as the show tackled many struggles African Americans are still facing today,” said Dexter Cole, TV One’s SVP, Program Scheduling & Acquisitions. “The series brought unconventional characters and laughter for generations, and continues to resonate with viewers.”

"Sanford & Son" features the misadventures and moneymaking schemes of junk dealer Fred Sanford (Foxx) and his son Lamont Sanford (Wilson). Through Fred’s sarcasm and curmudgeonly persona, the show highlighted the prejudices and challenges of African Americans during the 1970s.
