Fans on social media are shocked to see Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) stomping out Ant-Man aka Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) in the new trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

The film, which comes to theaters Feb. 17, debuted the new trailer during Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship.

In the trailer, Kang is tempting Scott to help him. But as we know–and as Scott finds out–Kang is way too dangerous and powerful to be trusted, even when he’s holding the promise of giving the time Scott missed because of the Blip back to him. In part of the trailer, Kang and Scott come to blows, with Kang smashing Scott’s helmet with his foot, leading some to believe that Ant-Man could die, especially when he says, “I don’t have to win, we just both have to lose.”

“Jonathan Majors is about to DELIVER as Kang,” wrote Complex Pop Culture on Twitter.

Filmmaker, screenwriter and playwright Darryl Wharton-Rigby also wrote, “Y’all!!! We are about to witness a robbery. Jonathan Majors as Kang is going to steal an entire movie from everybody else acting in it…”

Other reactions echoed this sentiment, with @EthanSimmie writing, “Jonathan Majors out here about to make this the best MCU movie in years. Holy smokes. Looks like he is not holding back and I’m honestly stoked for a very meaningful and powerful storyline for Scott/the MCU as a whole.”

@AshleyKSmalls wrote, “Okay but Jonathan Majors voice? The way he narrates? He’s very polite for someone who’s about to kill you. Scott getting jumped by a true thespian.”

@Phil_Lewis_ wrote, “Jonathan Majors is about to give us a generational performance in a Marvel movie.”

The film is billed as kicking off Marvel Studios’ Phase 5 of its Marvel Cinematic Universe, unveiling Kang the Conqueror to the world.
