'Two-Front War': LeVar Burton Will Direct Docuseries On Black Soldiers In Vietnam

LeVar Burton will direct a civil rights docuseries on Black soldiers in Vietnam. Deadline first reported this news.

Titled Two-Front War, the docuseries will hail from Lou Reda Productions and will give audiences a look at the fight for civil rights in America and Black soldiers' struggle for equality in Vietnam. The docuseries will feature multiple perspectives from Black journalists, students, civil rights activists and war veterans.

"I have looked long and hard to find a subject that inspires me to want to bring my voice to the field of documentary filmmaking,” Burton said to Deadline. “Both the Vietnam War and the movement for civil rights in America, are events that not only dominated my childhood and adolescence, they have gone a long way towards shaping the man and the storyteller I am today.”

LeVar Burton, an iconic television personality, is best known for his role as Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation and as Kunta Kinte in Roots. Burton is also widely known as the host of the long-running PBS children's show, Reading Rainbow.
