Tyler James Williams had to come get his former Everybody Hates Chris co-star Terry Crews together after Crews tweeted inflammatory remarks about the George Floyd protests.

Crews tweeted Sunday about his concern of a “Black supremacy,” setting off a tidal wave of angry responses from fans.

“Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth,” he wrote. “Like it or not, we are all in this together.”

Twitter users were quick to note that among those frustrated with Crews was Williams, who played a young Chris Rock opposite Crews’ character, Rock’s father Julius. Williams tweeted to Crews, writing, “Terry, brother, I know your heart and you know I have love for you and always will. No one is calling 4 [B]lack supremacy & the narrative that we are hurts our cause & our people. We’re just vigorously vetting our ‘allies’ because time & time again they have failed us in the past.”

Williams tweeted more to explain why he decided to address Crews.

“Our people are tired of white people who put on a good face [and] claim they “[aren’t] racist’ while operating and benefiting from the privilege of a clearly racist system,” he wrote. “We’re not trying to do this alone. We KNOW we can’t. But we refuse to have allies who won’t go the distance.”

“I’m not trying to call you out @terrycrews,” he continued. “You know it’s all love always. But we’re rightfully angry right now and fed up with anyone not with our cause wholeheartedly. I don’t want to see that energy pointed your way or diverted from the cause.”

Sadly, this isn’t the first time Crews has disappointed his fans, such as when he was taken to task for his lack of support for Gabrielle Union’s fight against America’s Got Talent in 2019, as well as his later defensive statements about his lack of support. He has also been called out by fans for his tweets made earlier in 2019 regarding same-sex parenting, in which he argued that a child could be “severely malnourished” emotionally if they had parents of the same gender.
