Tyler Perry is once again being proactive about combatting the coronavirus pandemic.

Deadline reports that Perry has created a vaccination mandate for all casts and crews working in Zone A of his shows at Atlanta’s Tyler Perry Studios. This goes further than the Hollywood mandate used by Hollywood unions and major studios, which leaves vaccination policies up to individual producers. For those working at Tyler Perry Studios, cast members and crews must have a vaccination, including a booster if eligible.

It’s believed that Perry’s new mandate was created to make it possible for All the Queen’s Men, which Perry is producing, to start work on its second season. Shooting was supposed to start before the 2021 holiday season, but was pushed until January after the number of positive tests rose significantly during pre-production testing.

Perry will be extremely hard on enforcing the mandate, with Deadline reporting that his studio will independently verify vaccination status to weed out fake vaccination cards.

Perry was the first producer in Hollywood to implement coronavirus procedures at the beginning of the pandemic by turning his studio into a compound for casts and crew to live and work safely, with doctors and testing on hand. Since then, other Hollywood producers and studios have tried to follow suit.
