We have the first shot on the set of Sony’s Moribius.
Tyrese Gibson posted a photo on Instagram with director Daniel Espinosa.
The film, which stars Jared Leto in the title role, chronicles the Spider-Man villain of the same name. Like 2018’s Venom, the film is a part of Sony’s slate of Marvel films that are based on Spider-Man properties, and not connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at Disney. These films, like Venom, do not actually feature Spider-Man (Tom Holland in the MCU), though Sony co-produces the MCU Spider-Man films at Disney.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless are writing the script.
Variety, who first broke the news of Gibson’s casting, says this of Morbius: The character was a scientist who tried to cure himself of a blood disease, with tragic results. He became afflicted with vampiric traits such as fangs and a thirst for blood — and wound up battling Spider-Man.
Gibson will play an FBI agent trying to hunt down the living vampire. As you can see in the photo, you can see the singer-actor donned in what looks like a detective fit and a bulletproof vest.
Before this, Gibson wrapped the feature film Black & Blue with Naomie Harris and Nafessa Williams and will likely begin working on Fast & Furious 9 after this.
