It was last week when I shared the above tweet from Isaiah Washington, but it turns out that it may just have been Washington’s self-affirmation, putting the idea of him playing the part into the universe’s hands, hoping that it becomes a reality, because, writer/director JD Walker tells me that, actually, the film’s script has been sent out to potential cast to read, and the production team has yet to begin casting, nor have they made any official decisions yet.

So, don’t get too excited about the idea of Isaiah Washington in the part, because some other actor might fill those shoes when the time comes.

Walker also tells me that we shouldn’t expect any casting announcements anytime soon. Look to 2014, or towards the end of this year, possibly.

The project now has a website (http://www.oscarmicheauxmovie.com) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/OscarMicheauxMovie), so you can follow its progress at either location.

By the way, the title of the movie currently is Oscar Micheaux: Negro Pioneer.

The above photo is of Walker (left) with Micheaux family members, right after her Sundance Film Festival pitching contest win earlier this year.

Now we wait to learn more about this new biopic – Oscar Micheaux: Negro Pioneer – from director JD Walker.

Stay tuned…
