Viola Davis is doing more than getting away with murder at ABC! She and her husband Julius Tennon’s production company, JuVee Productions, teaming up with ABC News’ Lincoln Square Productions and XCON productions for a six-part true crime documentary series for ABC, titled The 4 (a working title).

The series will follow two death row inmates, re-examining the crime, investigation, trial, verdict and appeals of their cases by using forensic technologies, as studies show as many as 4 percent of the people on death row are innocent.

“We feel that the 4% represents those who are looking for justice, but face an uphill battle. They are not daunted in their quest for freedom and our team of investigators are battle tested and ready to unearth the truth that could set them free,” said Tennon and Davis in a statement from ABC News.

This new project embodies those values that we share with them perfectly and we’re proud to be teaming up with them for a riveting series.”

It’s been an exciting and busy time for JuVee Productions. American Koko, produced by Davis through JuVee just premiered at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF). Among their other ventures includes a 1960s family comedy, The Zipcorders, which they sold to ABC, as well as The Personal History of Rachel DuPree and a biopic on Barbara Jordan — both starring Davis.  In March, JuVee announced they are raising $250M for the development, production and distribution of diverse and inclusive film and digital content.
