Viola Davis is set to play Michael Jordan’s mother in Ben Affleck’s upcoming Nike biopic, with Chris Tucker and Marlon Wayans also starring. They join Jason Bateman, Chris Messina and Julius Tennon in the Amazon project.

According to Deadline, the film comes courtesy a joint production between Amazon Studios, Mandalay Pictures and Skydance Sports.

Along with the aforementioned stars, the film also features Matt Damon, Tom Papa, Matthew Maher, and Julius Tennon. Affleck will also star.

Damon plays sneaker salesman Sonny Vaccaro, who created Nike from the ground up and transformed it into the leading sports brand around the world through securing the seemingly impossible partnership with NBA legend Michael Jordan. Affleck plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight.

Davis plays Deloris Jordan, Michael Jordan's mother and influential figure in the Nike deal, and Tennon, Davis' real-life husband will play Jordan's father, James.

Bateman will play Rob Strasser, Nike executive and eventual branding expert who was key in securing the deal. Tucker will portray Howard White, a former college basketball player and junior exec at Nike’s basketball department. Papa will play former Portland Trail Blazers exec Stu INman.

Messina will play David Falk, Jordan's first agent, and Wayans will play George Raveling, the first Black basketball coach at the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Pacific-10

Raveling is the one who turned Vaccaro on to getting Jordan to sign a deal with Nike.
