God Is Gangsta - Kendrick LamarKendrick Lamar is always good for captivating, colorful music videos/short films that are usually head and shoulders above the typical rap music videos that appeal to our baser instincts, and I appreciate the effort.

This new one is titled "God Is Gangsta," which doubles as a music video for two tracks – "U" and "For Sale" – both on his latest album, "To Pimp a Butterfly."

Clocking in at over 7 minutes long, "God Is Gangsta" begins with "U," maybe the album’s most contemplative track, as the rapper, in a drunken state, considers what his newfound fame means for himself and those he left behind. About halfway through, he then transitions to "For Sale," which is NSFW by the way, in a sequence in which our anti-hero finds himself overwhelmed by temptation.

It’s been a good year for Lamar, with the release of "To Pimp a Butterfly" for which he earned 11 Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year ("Alright") and Best Rap Album, and also took the top slot on Rolling Stone’s Best Albums of 2015.

The first half of "God Is Gangsta" is directed by Jack Begert & the little homies; the second by PANAMÆRA & the little homies.
