HBO has released the teaser trailer for the series Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children. The preview hints at a captivating look at the city’s most infamous true-crime mystery, detailing the abduction and murders of 30 Black children and young adults in Atlanta in the span of two years between the late 1970s and 1980s.

The mystery eventually culminated in the arrest, prosecution and indictment of 23-year-old Atlanta native Wayne Williams. However, the mystery surrounding the Atlanta Child Murders still plagues many to this day.

The murders have been a major subject in popular culture recently as the subject of a podcast, an Investigation Discovery docuseries, the second season of Netflix’s Mindhunter and more. All of this has resulted in further calls for the murders to be further reinvestigated.

The HBO series is produced and directed by the Show of Force, including Joshua Bennett, Maro Chermayeff, Jeff Dupre and Oscar nominee Sam Pollard. The series is also executive produced by Patrick Reardon of Roc Nation and Mike Jackson, Ty Stiklorius and John Legend of Get Lifted Film Co.

Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children premieres on April 5 on HBO.
