GIANTS
GIANTS

Her hit HBO series “Insecure” renewed for a second season, Issa Rae continues to produce content for the web, via her digital channel; content that may/may not make it to television (she also inked a 2-Year first-look deal with HBO, which will see Ms. Rae develop new programming for all of HBO’s platforms, with an emphasis on diverse voices, so either scenario is possible as the web has proven to be a test platform for several series that have made the leap to TV, and even film).

Rae has teamed up with Jussie Smollett (“Empire”) to executive produce a new scripted digital drama series from writer/director James Bland titled “Giants.” Bland also stars in the series alongside Vanessa Baden Kelly (“Kenan & Kel,” “Gullah Gullah Island,” “Rosewood”) and newcomer Sean Samuels in a drama that follows three black millennials on the heals of turning 30, as they navigate the trials and triumphs of adulthood. Each character is working to overcome their inner giants, facing very real issues including mental health, sexual identity, religious skepticism and unorthodox methods of economic survival.

“Giants” premiered yesterday, January 25th, on Issa Rae’s YouTube channel. Episode 1 is available online and embedded below.
