Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Idris Elba’s Turn Up Charlie, which premieres in March.
Elba will star in the titular role as a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a manny to his famous best friend’s problem-child daughter.
Frankie Hervey, Piper Perabo, and Guz Khan are among his co-stars.
For those unfamiliar, Elba moonlights as a DJ under the pseudonyms DJ Big Driis and Big Driis the Londoner. He has been DJing in nightclubs since he was 19 years old. The London-bred star got his start as a DJ in 1986 when he helped out with his uncle’s wedding DJ business.
Elba is executive producing with Gary Reich and Tristram Shapeero. Martin Joyce and Ana Garanito are co-executive producers, with Georgia Lester serving as a writer and supervising producer. Other writers are Laura Neal, Femi Oyeniran and Victoria Asare-Archer. Shapeero and Matt Lipsey are directing, and Gill Isles is a producer.
