On Monday’s episode of Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris sat down with Kid Cudi to discuss mental health. The actress made some stunning revelations during her sit down with the rapper, revealing that she suffered a mental breakdown at age 20.

“I had gotten to L.A. and gotten a certain amount of success and realized that that wasn’t the answer,” she said. “That that wasn’t what was gonna make everything okay. It actually made things worse, and I became extremely suicidal, and I had a complete emotional collapse” Pinkett-Smith also revealed that she used ecstasy, alcohol and more to cope with her depression.

Kid Cudi, who appeared as a guest, also talked about how the pressures of fame contributed to his depression.  “I have to live up to be this person, and I don’t feel like that. It’s like doing a comedy but you’re miserable. It’s like my life was like this show and I was always supposed to be on, but when the show was over I was completely miserable,” Cudi said. “I’m just trying to keep it together, because, Kid Cudi, everybody’s hero, this person that you look up to. I didn’t want to let anybody down.”
