nullI’m glad this was picked up to series. I thought it was the best of all of Amazon’s freshman class of pilots that were tested a year ago, and is now set to premiere (a 10-episode season) on Friday, February 13, on Amazon’s Prime Instant Video.

Based on Michael Connelly’s international best-selling Harry Bosch book series, "Bosch" stars Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch, Jamie Hector as Jerry Edgar, Amy Aquino as Lt. Grace Billets, Lance Reddick as Deputy Chief Irvin Irving, and Annie Wersching as Julia Brasher, with Sarah Clarke as Eleanor Wish and Jason Gedrick as Raynard Waits.

The series follows the relentless LAPD homicide detective as he pursues the killer of a 13-year-old boy while standing trial in federal court on accusations that he murdered a suspected killer in cold blood.

Bosch was developed for television by Eric Overmyer, best known for his work on "Treme," "The Wire," and "Homicide: Life on the Streets" – all solid shows, so this one hopefully continues that streak.

I watched the pilot episode, when Amazon released it last February, and dug what I saw, so I’ll definitely be checking it out when the full series debuts a month from now. It’s mostly standard detective series crime drama fare, based on the single episode I saw, so don’t expect anything groundbreaking here. But I thought it was well made and entertaining, and appreciated what looked like a relatively diverse cast (despite the fact that the series is led by a white male character, and thus much of the drama centers around him).

Amazon Prime members can watch the first episode of "Bosch" now.

"We had a very strong response to the pilot from our customers and, after years of anticipation from the fan community, we are delighted to launch the complete first television season of Michael Connelly’s classic works of LA Noir," said Roy Price, Vice President, Amazon Studios.

"I am very pleased with season one," Connelly says. "We have been extremely loyal to the character and city in the books. I think anybody who likes Harry Bosch on the page is going to like him on screen too. Titus Welliver is perfectly cast and viewers are going to be drawn to him whether they’ve read the books or not."

"With its high production values, star-studded cast and huge fan base already established from the book franchise – Bosch will be the crime drama series of 2015!" added Henrik Pabst, Managing Director at Red Arrow International.
