Before she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the Netflix film Marriage Story, actress Laura Dern had a fangirl moment on the Oscars red carpet.

Jerry Harris, the fan-favorite cheerleader from Netflix’s Cheer docuseries, covered the Oscars red carpet on behalf of the Ellen DeGeneres show and was the one star who many of Hollywood’s biggest actors fangirled over

“Jerry! This is what I wanna say to you,” Dern said to Harris during their interview. “You’ve got this! You can do this, Jerry! My daughter was giving me some mat talk as I was arriving in the car, and we love you and we love your big, beautiful heart.”

Dern wasn’t the only star to go star-struck for Harris. The Cheer star was the subject of admiration from Brad Pitt, Kathy Bates, Frozen actress Idina Menzel, Hamilton actor and scribe Lin Manuel- Miranda and Greta Gerwig.

“You are such an inspiration,” Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts exclaimed to Harris.

For those unfamiliar, Cheer follows the Navarro College Bulldogs Cheer Team of Texas and their quest to win the National Cheerleading Championship. Harris eventually emerged as the show’s breakout star.
