A new trailer Christopher Nolan’s Tenet has been released. The film is led by John David Washington and also stars Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh and Himesh Patel.

Not much is known about the mysterious new film, but we do have an official description now: Armed with only one word—Tenet—and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real-time.

What is clear is that it seems to be an espionage thriller on an international scale with lots of action and…time travel? It sure looks that way. With a pricey alleged budget of $225 million, it is the most expensive Nolan production yet and is his latest film since 2017’s Dunkirk.

Earlier this year, the director told Entertainment Weekly, “We’re jumping off from the point of view of an espionage film, but we’re going to a number of different places. We’re crossing a few different genres in a hopefully exciting and fresh way. We shot in seven countries, all over the place, with a massive cast and huge set pieces. There’s no question, it’s the most ambitious film we’ve made.”

Warner Bros. still lists the film’s release date as July 17, 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic. The trailer, however, only says “coming to theaters,” meaning it could get pushed back further as well. But one thing is for sure — don’t expect Tenet to go straight to VOD.
