This evening (December 5, 2016), Steve Harvey hosted "Showtime at the Apollo," a two-hour event and reimagining of the classic talent showcase series. The star-studded special aired from 8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT on FOX. An additional one-hour special, also hosted by Harvey, will air in early 2017.
The 2-hour special night featured performances by comedians Tracy Morgan, Mike Epps, George Lopez, Jay Pharoah, Anthony Anderson and Gabriel Iglesias; rappers Doug E. Fresh, Rakim, Ja Rule and Flo Rida; and musical acts Bell Biv DeVoe, En Vogue, John Legend, Ashanti and Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals.
Along with the well-known acts, the special showcased Apollo's legendary Amateur Night - the long-running, live talent competition, now in its 82nd year - which provides a platform for up-and-coming artists to perform in front of the toughest audience in the world. The Apollo audience is famed as one of entertainment's most boisterous and brutally honest and those amateurs who don't win over the crowd risk being booed off the stage.
Fox has released a few performance clips from tonight's broadcast, including En Vogue, as well as Amateur Night participants. The videos are all embedded below; as more are made available online, this post will be updated with each addition.
