Watch Preview for Coming of Age Drama "The House of Malik"

Speaking of Clifton Powell, whom I just wrote a post about starring in Psalm 23rd: Redemption, he also stars in The House of Malik, set for release December 1, 2011. The film, a coming of age tale about a New Jersey trumpet prodigy, is written and directed by Jesse James Jackson Jr. and produced by Jersey Style Films Inc. Along with Powell, the film also stars Sean Taylor, Xiaofei Wang, Thomas C. Bartley, Jerry Ross and Anthony Warren.

Here’s the storyline:

This is a coming of age tale of a young 13 year old trumpet prodigy from the intercity of Camden New Jersey who has to try and define his place in life. Malik Brett Perkens, as a young child, has gone through a traumatic experience of losing his mother in an accidental mishap. Maliks father Zip Perkens, is left to raise his son on his own, faced with the challenges of losing his wife and the ruthless streets of Camden.

Malik is now a young 23 year old man who has transformed into a street thug who has no thought of his future and life expectations. He has become totally out of control and has approached the “fork in the road” of his life. Zip has had all the trouble he can handle with Malik and enlists the help of his brother-in-law Kyle, (Clifton Powell) who lives in Japan to take Malik back there to broaden his horizon in the hopes that Malik will change his life.

Unbeknownst to Malik, his uncle Kyle has some hidden secrets that will pit him against some formidable opponents of the Japanese underworld. The ultimate in concealed secrets will eventually destroy a life, and bring another one to light. The “House of Malik,” is a young boy’s journey into Manhood. With a thundering, pounding, blistering soundtrack and stunning visuals, you can expect to take a rollercoaster ride into a powerful dramatic motion picture that will be the years spoiler box-office hit.

As I said earlier, the film has a release date of December 1st of this year.

Take a look at the preview.
