Watch Sudz Sutherland's 'Home Again' TEDx Talk

Canadian filmmaker Sudz Sutherland‘s lauded drama Home Again, which stars Tatyana AliLyriq BentStephan JamesRichard ChevolleauC.C.H. Pounder, and Fefe Dobson, will next screen at the American Black Film Festival in Miami Beach, FL, which runs from June 19-23.

I’ll be at ABFF this year, so I’ll be checking out the film myself.

No word on a USA pickup/theatrical release yet; it made its USA premiere at the Pan African Film Festival in February, where Jasmin saw it and reviewed HERE.

The synopsis:

Home Again tells the story of three

young people deported home to Jamaica after being raised abroad since

infancy. Once landed in Kingston and without a compass of any kind, each

of the characters embarks on a journey that pushes their endurance

beyond measure and forces them to discover who they truly are. On the

most fundamental level, Home Again asks the question, How would you

The Canadian-produced feature, Sudz’s second, was shot on location in TrinidadJamaica and Canada, earlier last year, and is described as “a searing drama in the vein of City of God.

Entertainment One has distribution rights to the film, with co-production partners The National Film Board and with the participation of Telefilm Canada, and the Harold Greenberg Fund.

While we wait for word on a USA theatrical, in the video below, watch director Sudz Sutherland’s recent engaging TEDx talk, titled “Chasing Home,” in which he discusses Home Again and the elusive idea of what home means to people who have been deported.

You’ll find the trailer and the poster for the film underneath:
