'Watchmen,' 'David Makes Man,' And 'When They See Us' Among Peabody Award Nominees

HBO's Watchmen, OWN's David Makes Man and Netflix's When They See Us are among the list of television series nominated for the 2020 Peabody Awards.

The Peabody Awards Board of Jurors' list of nominees also includes HBO's Chernobyl, Netflix's Unbelievable and Stranger Things, HBO's Succession, Amazon Prime's Fleabag, Disney+'s Float, Apple TV+'s Dickinson and PBS's "POV" documentary series.

Jeffrey P. Jones, the executive director of Peabody, talked about the nominees in a statement, writing how "proud" the jurors are "to champion this year's nominees who inspire our connection, provoke our thinking and delight our senses."

"From the communal strength of Black women to the eminence of science to the conviction of those who speak up, these stories and their creators celebrate the diversity of human experience and of our democracy," he wrote. "Admist the challenges of our present moment, we can find empathy, entertainment adn truth in these nominees."
