Wesley Snipes

Wesley Snipes is currently writing his very first novel titled “Talon of God,” which is described as an action-packed, enthralling urban fantasy in which a holy warrior must convince a doctor with no faith to help stop a powerful demon and his minions from succeeding in creating hell on earth — a thrilling adventure of science and faith, good and evil, damnation and salvation.

Further breakdown from the press release: Imagine that everyone you have ever known or loved was forced against their will into a state of demonic possession and spiritual slavery. Imagine an unholy cabal of the world’s richest and most powerful men directing this sinister plan in order to cement their unbridled control of the planet. Imagine two heroes emerging from that darkness to do battle with the forces of evil. Set in the mean streets of Chicago, “Talon of God” is the action-packed adventure centered around Lauryn Jefferson, a beautiful young doctor who is dragged into a seemingly impossible battle against the invisible forces of Satan’s army and their human agents that are bent on enslaving humanity in a mission to establish the kingdom of hell on Earth. But Lauryn is a skeptic, and it’s only as she sees a diabolical drug sweep her city and begins to train in the ways of a spirit warrior by the legendary man of God, Talon Hunter, that she discovers her true nature and inner strength. Facing dangerous trials and tests, it’s a true baptism by fire. And if they fail, millions could die. And rivers of blood would flow throughout the land. Get ready. Armageddon approaches quickly.

“Talon of God” will be published by Harper Collins on Hardcover on Jul 25, 2017.

“It’s one thing to get a project in and be like, ‘Do you mean the Wesley Snipes?’ and be told ‘Yes — he’s written a novel,'” said Harper Voyager (Harper Collins imprint) executive editor David Pomerico in a statement. “But then to learn that the story he and Ray put together is just so much fun, well, there was no way I couldn’t do this project!”

The “Ray” he mentions is author Ray Norman, who is working with Snipes on the novel.

Added Snipes, “I’ve always had a desire to write a book. Collaborating, crafting, creating this novel, ‘Talon of God,’ was a new and exciting experience for me … and I can’t wait to see if this story finds life in other forms.”

And by “other forms” I assume he’s referring to potential film, TV or web series adaptations of the novel. You’ll recall that, a year ago, Mr. Snipes inked a first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television that will see the actor develop and produce a diverse slate of projects via his Maandi Media shingle.

“It’s very exciting to be putting on my producing hat again,” the actor said in a statement at the time. “I’m looking forward to reuniting with the studio responsible for the success of my film ‘The Fan.’”

So when he says that he “can’t wait to see if [‘Talon of God’] finds life in other forms,” might he be writing the novel with a possible TV adaptation for Sony Pictures Television to consider under his first-look deal with the studio? Time will tell…

Snipes will next be seen on the big screen in an action sci-fi film titled “The Recall,” which follows five friends on vacation at a remote lake house, unaware that planet Earth is under an alien invasion and mass-abduction. The film is directed by Mauro Borrelli, primarily an art director/illustrator who’s worked on high-profile films like “The Hateful Eight,” “Captain America: The First Avenger,” and 2 of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies.  The film was shot specifically to be released in Barco-equipped theatres in the USA. Barco is a multi screen format similar to Cinerama, which features multi-projection in order to create a panoramic experience. The technology is expected to compete with IMAX and Dolby Cinema. No release date for “The Recall” at this time; it was most recently shopped to distributors at the American Film Market.
