In 2000, Wendy Williams and her former husband Kevin Hunter welcomed their son, Kevin Hunter Jr.

Williams has been open about her desire for more children, however she revealed that she suffered from multiple miscarriages while she and Hunter were still married.

In a PBS special entitled American Masters: The Women’s List, Williams spoke candidly about her experience.

“I fought tooth and nail to be a mother,” She says. “I suffered several miscarriages including two at five months. That’s when you have the clothes already picked out, the nursery is already painted. They ask you do you want a funeral or do you want the cremation.”

She continues, “We went through that not once but twice, me and my husband. So our Kevin is a hard-won child,” she adds. “I would’ve loved to have had more children but I don’t want to test my blessing. Being a mother is for me. It’s not for everybody. It’s for me.”

Wendy Williams has spoken candidly about her experience with drug addiction. In an interview with In Touch, she explains that while challenging, her journey was also transformative.

“I was in deep. I wish I hadn’t put my life in jeopardy, but I have no regrets because it’s made me who I am today, and I’m proud of me.”

But when Williams noticed her son’s behavior change as a result of his experimenting with K2, she grew very concerned. In an interview with ET, she recalls the ordeal, grateful that he made a full recovery.

“I was horrified. My son became someone I didn’t even know,” she said. “Drugs have no income. Drugs have no race or religion. Drugs are drugs and that K2 was really something else and you know I’m glad to say we were able to bring him back all the way around.”

4. He Enjoys Helping Others

Like many youth, Kevin Hunter Jr. experimented with drugs as a teen. According to the CDC, 20 percent of high school students surveyed reported that had used a prescription drug without an order from a doctor.

And while drugs often ruin the lives of many young people, Kevin Hunter Jr., fortunately, survived his addiction.

Because of this, he and his family decided to give back to the community to help others who might be struggling with their mental health and addiction. They started The Hunter Foundation, to provide support to community-based organizations and programs. As a result, the foundation has donated thousands upon thousands of dollars to charities and other nonprofit organizations with the hope that others can have a second chance at life just like Kevin Hunter Jr. did.
