Emmy-nominated The Good Place and Love Life star William Jackson Harper has joined the cast of Landscape With Invisible Hand.

According to Variety, Harper joins previously announced stars Asante Blackk, Tiffany Haddish, Kylie Rogers, Clifton Collins Jr., Michael Gandolfini, Josh Hamilton and Brooklynn MacKinzie in the film from MGM, Plan B Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures.

Based on the novel of the same name by M.T. Anderson, National Book Award winner Landscape With Invisible Hand is a comedy set in a deeply stratified, alien future. The film will be directed by Cory Finley in his third film after Thoroughbreds and Bad Education. The project is currently in production.

Based on the book by M.T. Anderson, the film is a sci-fi comedy about a teenage artist who lives in the near future, when aliens known as the vuvv have colonized earth, according to Variety. The aliens’ technology have caused the global job market to collapse, leading our protagonist and his girlfriend to create a vlog to entertain the aliens and make some money. But as their relationship crumbles, they realize they can’t break up without putting their families in financial ruin. Blackk will play the main teenage character and Haddish plays his month.

Harper recently starred in HBO Max’s critically acclaimed season two of Love Life, for which he received an NAACP Image Award nomination for his performance as well as a Critics Choice Award nomination.

He was also recognized by the Critics Choice Association for his performance in The Underground Railroad, Barry Jenkins’ acclaimed Amazon limited series. He received a nomination for that as well.

Jackson Harper will soon begin production on his new Peacock comedy series opposite Cristin Millioti, The Resort.
