Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has won the Emmy for  Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie for her role as Cal Abar/Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen. The series also picked up Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie (Regina King), Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series or TV Movie (Damon Lindelof & Cord Jefferson) and Outstanding Limited Series.

The series, from Damon Lindelof, is based on the 1980s DC Comics series, which had a film adaptation in 2009 from Zack Snyder. It is the latest collaboration between him and King since HBO’s The Leftovers. Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen “embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.”

Jeremy Irons,  Louis Gossett Jr., Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon also starred.
