sana-soloAs we learned a year ago, it turns out that Star Wars’ loveable rogue, Han Solo, had a wife during his romance with Princess Leia – and, oh, by the way, she was black.

That revelation was followed by news of a new comic book (the 6th issue of Marvel Entertainment’s new “Star Wars” comic) designed to fill in the gaps between 1977’s “Star Wars” and its 1980 sequel “The Empire Strikes Back,” which included this little bit of news that made waves among die-hard fans of “Star Wars”, because, thanks to a decision made earlier this year by new owner Disney, it is considered canonical.

She was introduced as Sana Solo in “Star Wars” No. 6, and, as you can see, she seems a little upset. Princess Leia isn’t too thrilled with the news either. And, as I noted last year, this introduction of Sana Solo might lead to the character appearing in any one of the upcoming core “Star Wars” movies, or spin-off films based on individual characters, or planned TV series also based on individual characters.

And she just might… Mashable reporter Jeff Sneider took to Twitter (hat-tip Collider for pointing this out) to share news on what he’s heard regarding the female lead in the upcoming “Star Wars” anthology film centered on a young Han Solo (to played by Alden Ehrenreich). Producers of the film are currently in the process of casting the film’s female lead, and Sneider revealed on Twitter that Lucasfilm has narrowed its search down to four non-white actresses for the unknown role. I should note that this unknown female lead role may not necessarily be Sana Solo. It could be another character altogether. But of course fanboys and girls are hoping that it is is.

I’m not a “Star Wars” universe expert (the comics and the movies), so I’ll leave it to you pros to enlighten the rest of us on how a scenario could play out that could see comic book characters and stories make the leap to the big screen.

Also noteworthy is that a young Lando Calrissian is expected to be a part of the cast for the young Han Solo film. Rumors currently are that Donald Glover may be the frontfunner for the part. But again, these are rumors.

So all we can do now is wait to see how these new developments unfold from here-on. The “Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film” is currently set for a 2018 release.

Han Solo is evidently even more of a cad than you initially thought…
