Shadow And Act has an exclusive preview from the upcoming film, Luce.

NEON is set to release the film, starring Kelvin Harrison Jr., Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer and Tim Roth, on August 2. The film is directed by Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) and written by Onah and J.C. Lee.

The description: An all-star high school athlete and accomplished debater, Luce (Harrison) is a poster boy for the new American Dream. As are his parents (Watts and Roth), who adopted him for a war-torn country a decade earlier. When Luce’s teacher (Spencer) makes a shocking discovery in his locker, Luce’s stellar reputation is called into question. But is he really at fault, or is Ms. Wilson preying on dangerous stereotypes?

Onah explained the clip and gave context to Shadow And Act “Amy Edgar (Watts) is called into Northern Virginia High School at the request of Harriet Wilson (Spencer). Amy’s riding high after her adopted son, Luce (Harrison Jr.), has just given an outstanding speech at school because of his impeccable academic record. But when Harriet, his history and government teacher, confronts Amy with disturbing information about Luce she is unsure how to respond. Especially as any action would require Amy to break the bond of trust she’s developed with Luce.”
