Yvette Nicole Brown is staying at ABC.

The veteran comedy actress, who recently starred in ABC’s The Mayor, has been tapped to star in Most Likely To.

The potential series, from Diablo Cody and produced by the ever-busy Greg Berlanti, revolves around Liz Cooney, who, in high school, had everything, and Markie McQueen, who had nothing. Twenty years later, they’re reunited under the same roof as single moms and unlikely housemates. Brown will play Markie, who is described as radiant and warm, quietly confident, with a successful salon and brilliant daughter — but her insecurities are reignited when her high school bully arrives in town. The second lead, Liz, has not been cast yet.

This keeps Brown at ABC after the well-received and critical fave, The Mayor, is officially not returning at ABC as ABC Studios was unsuccessful in finding a new home for it. Brandon Micheal Hall, who headlined The Mayor, has also booked a starring role in a pilot over at CBS, which coincidentally is also from Greg Berlanti.

Most Likely To would be a return to a multi-cam format for Brown, who has also starred in Community, Drake & Josh and CBS’s recent The Odd Couple reboot.

THR first reported Brown’s casting.
