In what would be her first post-Insecure role, Netflix is reportedly in development on the Yvonne Orji-led bodybuilding drama series, Stronger.

Deadline broke the news of the series’ development. The project is based at A+E Studios from Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein. They have an overall at the studio.

Orji would portray the role of Toni Winslow, a single mother who feels unseen and unimportant.

Soon after, Toni becomes obsessed with bodybuilding and undergoes not only a physical transformation but also an emotional one. Per Deadline, Stronger will tackle themes such as self-empowerment and self-destruction. Orji will executive produce Stronger her manager DC Wade of Odenkirk Provissiero.

Stronger was created and written by Turner, who is best known for writing films such as Straight Outta Compton, Up In the Air and X-Men: First Class.

The series will be executive produced Turner and Klein through their production company, Vendetta Productions.

Orji’s new role comes on the heels of her five-season run on Insecure as Molly Carter, Issa Dee’s BFF.

For her portrayal of Molly, Orji was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series in 2020.

Aside from Insecure, Orji has also made appearances in shows such as HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show, Jane The Virgin and The Wonder Years and she’s starred in the films Night School and Vacation Friends.
