Zazie Beetz In Talks To Return For 'Joker' Sequel Opposite Joaquin Phoenix And Lady Gaga

Zazie Beetz is reportedly in talks to return for the upcoming Joker sequel with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.

Variety reports Beetz is in discussions to reprise the role of Sophie Dumond in Joker: Folie à Deux from Warner Bros. and DC.

In the original film, Beetz played a single mother and neighbor to Joker. The character was but a figment of Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck/Joker’s imagination. Beetz’s return for the sequel likely rules out fan theories that Sophie either died in the first film or didn’t exist at all.

Director Todd Phillips returns for the film and co-wrote the script with Scott Silver. Lady Gaga is playing Harley Quinn,. The film will begin shooting in December and is set to release on Oct. 4, 2024.

Atlanta star Beetz can be currently seen in Bullet Train. The fourth and final season of Atlanta is out this fall. She also has Netflix’s Black Mirror and the next season of Prime Video’s Invincible on her list.
