Zendaya Makes More Emmys History As Youngest Two-Time Acting Nominee, Youngest Producer Nominee

Zendaya has made Emmys history again with her latest nominations.

Zendaya has been nominated four times for the 74th Emmys. She was nominated for her leading role as Rue once again, becoming the youngest two-time acting nominee. Her other nominations include her work on Euphoria’s original songs “Elliot’s Song” and “I’m Tired” and for executive producing Euphoria along with Sam Levinson, Ron Leshem and Gary Lennon.

With her producer nomination, Zendaya has now become the youngest woman nominated in the category. This is in addition to the history Zendaya made in 2020 when she won the Emmy for her leading role in Euphoria, becoming the youngest leading actress winner in the drama category. She also became the second Black woman to win in that category.

She is also the first Black woman and second Black person ever to be nominated for both acting and songwriting within the same year.

Euphoria has consistently broken viewing records on HBO. In February, HBO released that the season 2 finale had become the second most-watched show on the network after Game of Thrones.

Zendaya has talked about Rue’s evolution and the character’s hope for personal change.

“It’s the idea of Rue being tired of being who she is and you can look at it from like a more melancholy and kind of deep sadness,” said Zendaya to Shadow and Act, “but there’s also this idea of [an] ‘I don’t want to be who I am anymore’ feeling and this idea of rebirthing and becoming someone else or stepping into a new phase of your life, which I really have hope for Rue in that sense.”
