During Sunday’s BET Awards, Zendaya won the adoration of Beyoncé fans when she showed up in the same Versace dress Beyonce wore during her 2003 BET Awards performance of “Crazy In Love.”

The dress Zendaya wore was altered with a longer skirt than Beyoncé’s version in 2003. But the use of Beyoncé’s iconic dress helped Zendaya pay homage to BET Awards history as well as the theme of the night, which was about honoring Black women.

As reported by Elle, Tina Knowles, the mother of Beyoncé and her sister, singer/songwriter Solange, mentioned Zendaya’s dress on Instagram. In Zendaya’s Instagram post, Knowles wrote, “Love you In This vintage Versace dress !!! Beyonce wore one just like it on her first solo performance on the Bet Awards I cut it short.”

Fans also noticed Zendaya’s nod to Beyoncé, as well as Zendaya’s matching mask, praising her for being both fashion-conscious and health-conscious. Comedian Jessie Woo also commented on Zendaya’s fashion choices, writing, “ZENDAYA SHOWED UP AS BEYONCÉ AND IM LIVING!!!…Zendaya the only person still wearing a mask. Sis understands the pandemic isn’t over! LOVE TO SEE IT!”

Zendaya, who made waves in 2020 for her performances in Euphoria and Malcolm & Marie, was nominated for Best Actress alongside Viola Davis, Andra Day, Angela Bassett, Issa Rae and Jurnee Smollett. Day won the category for her transformational performance in The United States vs. Billie Holiday. Zendaya can be heard next as the voice of Lola Bunny in Space Jam: A New Legacy, which will come to theaters and HBO Max July 16.
