If your friend doesn’t react the way Zendaya did for H.E.R.’s win at the Oscars, chances are, you need a nee friend.

This year’s Oscars proved to be an interesting take on the monotony of previous years.  Glenn Close showed viewers what she was working with as Lil Rel Howery did a pop quiz with various attendees asking them to name the tune and its movie it appeared in. On the other hand, Naya Rivera’s absence in the In Memoriam segment was not well received nor was the Chadwick Boseman‘s posthumous loss for Best Actor.

Zendaya was tasked with presenting the Best Original Song category. To Zendaya’s delight, H.E.R., aka Gabi Wilson, won for “Fight for You” from Judas and the Black Messiah. 

After naming H.E.R. the winner of the award, Zendaya is seen jumping up and down excitedly as H.E.R. walked by her to the main stage.

H.E.R.’s acceptance speech culminated the moment. The young musician showed gratitude for being “a part of such an important story.” She emphasized the importance of “ knowledge and music” while she thanked the song’s other creatives, songwriters and collaborators such as Tiara Thomas, Dernest “D’Mile” Emille II.

This is H.E.R’s first was Academy Award. The talented musician has previously won four  Grammys and several other notable awards.
H.E.R. disclosed in the press room that, “there’s absolutely going to be an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) in my future, hopefully.”

H.E.R. also said that she was “also super passionate about acting as well, so you may see me up here as an actress also, and then I love musicals. Me and Brandy have been talking a lot and she’s inspired me, since she did a musical.”

In total disbelief, she stated, “I cannot believe that we’re here. I’m so thankful to be standing next to these two (Tiara Thomas and D’Mile).”
