Zoë Kravitz has lightly taken Hulu to task for its lack of diversity in its projects after her series, High Fidelity, was canceled.
After giving a heartfelt shout out to her High Fidelity cast, crew and fans, Tessa Thompson wrote in a comment, “I will miss you alllllllllllll so much.” To which Kravitz replied, “It’s cool. At least Hulu has a ton of other shows starring women of color we can watch. Oh wait.”
The series, based on the novel and the 2000 film of the same name, only lasted for one season before Hulu axed the show. It received primarily positive reviews from critics. Deadline reported, “[The show] had internal support at Hulu, whose brass took extra time to mull a potential renewal, with sibling ABC Signature extending the options on the cast by a month to accommodate that. In the end, the streamer opted not to proceed with a second season. Finding another home for the show is considered a long shot, I hear.”
Along with Kravitz, the show also starred Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Kingsley Ben-Adir. Kravitz can be seen next in The Batman, in which she’ll play Catwoman. The film is set for a 2021 release.
